by Herkimer County Community College participated in the Region III Championship Meet this past Sunday at Erie Community College. Divers Caleb Sanjurjo and Earl Lang both put on a performance to reach 6th place overall.
Sanjurjo faced the 3-meter diving board, reaching 3rd place. To top that he reached 4th in 1 meter. He performed dives such as a front dive half twist and an inward 1 ½. Coach Nicholas Lanckton said “He just spins off that diving board like a bottle cap.”
Lang did well in his own right by placing third in the 1-meter competition. Some of the dives he performed were a front somersault half twist and a front ½ somersault pike.
Both did well with Lang scoring a 158.95 and Sanjurjo scoring 158.10 in the 1-meter. Sanjurjo scored 142.65 in the 3-meter. Both now prepare for nationals and hope to perform well.
