by A new major, Esports Management, is coming to Herkimer College beginning in Fall 2023. Esports management is a rising field in a growing job market. Herkimer College has been looking at this industry for several years, and assistant professor of business Steve Boucher has been involved with the development of this major.
When asked who would be a good fit for the new major, Boucher described students “that have an interest in gaming and passion for the industry,” including those “who want to be involved with the business aspects of professional sports function.”
Esports is when people come together and play video games in a competitive setting. Esports Management is much more than that. Careers in this field include event management, advertising, training, programming, and broadcasting.
