If you are on the Herkimer College campus and looking for something to do, join the fashion show. It is taking place on April 26 at 6 p.m. and will be a perfect place to create an outlet for expression/creativity.
This show, called “Pose,” is going to be an accumulation of artists’ work via clothing that will showcase things and pieces they have been working on. This gives students an opportunity to show off their idea of a cool design in a different style. It also allows people to feel comfortable expressing diverse, creative, and innovative ways to express themselves.
The show will be a collection of multiple students showcasing their designs. There was a tryout two weeks ago for students to pick their models based on what they wanted to create with them and how they wanted to wear things.
I spoke with one of the models who said, “I think the fashion show is an opportunity for people to practice, and either be a designer or a model, these designers get to create their own clothing and models will model them the day of the show. The theme this year is Dreams and Nightmares, so there will be most likely a mix of darker and lighter colors within the clothing and designs.”
Every aspect of this show takes time and effort. Things like lighting, sound, and long hours go into it. These students have been meeting with models and creating concepts for months leading up to this show.
Another model I spoke to said, “This is an outlet for everyone to express themselves.” This shows that every person inside of the club in the organization putting on the show wants you to feel comfortable and in a safe environment to create fun and new concepts to fashion.
This event is open to the public and free, and I advise anyone that can join to either try to participate or at least attend. Again, it’s April 26 at 6 p.m., in the Sarkus-Busch Theater.
