February is Herkimer College Amnesty International chapter’s Have a Heart for Human Rights Month. It builds on the December – January Write for Rights (W4R) featured above, by encouraging the final action given on each of the case sheets that follow. This action helps support each of the individuals or groups featured in this year’s Write4Rights by encouraging people to send a communication of support either by mail or digitally. These actions are located on the back of each case card, in the bottom right-hand corner.
These messages can make a difference. Here’s just one of thousands:
“[You] gave me hope of freedom and now I am free. I am now with my family, I am now with my daughters, I am now with my partner. My mother has already cried with happiness to see me free. Thanks to each one of you for spreading and sharing my letters.”
Human rights defender Bernardo Caal Xol, freed in March 2022 after spending four years in prison in Guatemala. He was featured in Write for Rights 2021.
