Colleagues and Friends End Semester With Foosball Tournament

What started as a simple conversation about foosball between two colleagues has evolved into the most highly anticipated, friendly (ish) competition each semester.

At the end of finals week, a group of faculty, staff, and others (looking at you, Matthew Taube) organize to engage in pre-game trash talk, end-of-semester/holiday cheer, and a high-stakes game of foosball. The winner of said game takes home the coveted trophy, which is embossed with the name of said winner (or winners), written in the finest Sharpie ink.

This group of colleagues, friends–and the occasional husband and wife –laugh, shout, and perhaps cry through this tournament each year. When the victor is declared, all shake hands, salute that semester’s winner, leave as colleagues and friends, and look toward the next semester for a chance at that trophy.

In the words of one of this year’s foosball champs, this is the best day of each semester.
