The Herkimer General’s Swimming and Diving team performed excellently at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo, New York, during their 2025 Region III Championship. The team finished sixth overall in the standings thanks to 23 points from Earl Lang and Caleb Sanjurjo.
Sanjurjo earned sixth place in his attempts. Sanjurjo stated that “nationals was the best experience for me due to the many talented divers that were around.” Sanjurjo is very proud of what he’s accomplished including earning an all-American nod.
Lang helped the Generals with an admirable performance of his own, finishing in seventh place. Although it wasn’t his greatest, Lang gave it his best shot. He added that making it to nationals was an experience of a lifetime, considering that he had only participated in the sport since his sophomore year of high school.
The priority was placed by their coaches on improving their dives while still learning and developing. Their coaches emphasized the value of developing technique right away so that every dive is performed smoothly. The swimmers were also urged to push their boundaries and learn new skills in order to challenge themselves.
Sanjurjo and Lang are confident in the team’s outlook for the swim and dive next year. They think that they will build on their prior achievements and accomplish even better outcomes . Their enthusiasm for the next season is fueled by their focus on improving skill and to move to the three-meter dive.
Even though the Generals only have two athletes on the team, they still put up an outstanding display overall. Both are ready to return for the upcoming season and will strive for an even better placement.
