Stables Presented with Award

Herkimer Faculty Member Receives Award

On October 24, Assistant Professor Katie Stables received the Samuel Gompers Distinguished Service Award during the Central New York Labor Council Recognition Dinner.

This award recognizes leadership qualities that have kept the union movement strong.

Past recipient (2019) Professor Bob Gassmann nominated Stables for this prestigious award presented it during the dinner at Hart’s Hill Inn in Whitesboro, N.Y.

This is what was said about Professor Stables:

She opened up new channels of communication between the HCCCPA and the college administration over the course of her tenure as President, and led the Professional Association through several difficult negotiation cycles, culminating in one of the most successful contracts for our members in our union history. Katie is also a tireless advocate for our union and helped galvanize our members during the COVID pandemic when distance education measures were pulling us apart. Katie is always willing to listen to the concerns of our members and work to secure outcomes in their best interest.
